Looking at my results still feels like a dream :) I remembered crying really badly during Primary 6 when i got a mere 227 for my PSLE and got even more depressed when everyone told me that I’m going to a school full of ah-lians & bengs (HIHS). But that was the place where I knew so many of my 姐妹s and still keep in contact with them till now, where I had Leong as my personal tutor and he was the reason that I made my mum proud for the 1st time by giving her a pretty 17 for my O’s. Got into Serangoon JC cus it was near my house and i dun have many options either; memories were scarce cus I spent most of the time going against the class and being all rebellious along with my darling 3, didnt recall putting in much effort when it comes to studies. So when it was Doom’s Day and I received my report card with a CCDE from my form teacher who solemnly asked me how I thought of my results and I went, “Hmm..Not bad ah!” I wasnt trying to be funny but I took my results lightly, only having to find myself trying to find a school that would take me in, gave up attempting to appeal for any NUS NTU or SMU courses. Lucky me, SIM took me in.
I’m pretty well-known in my family for being the happy-go-lucky kind. When Sis did badly for English in Secondary School, it was like a major crisis and my relatives would go all worried for her, cus they had high expectations of her. But when I passed all my subjects, even just borderline, my family would praise me & give me monetary rewards..like a celebration -.-” Lol maybe they think i’m smart enough to pass all and thats my limit!
Because the invisible motto of SIM goes, “Every weekday is a Sunday”, timetables are absurdly slack and I had the most awful lecturers for my 3rd year. I had Mr R for Elements of Econometrics on Monday, Mr R for Management Science Methods & Mr S for Organisation Theory on Tuesday, Mr J.K for Information Systems on Wednesday.
No one ever hopes for Mr R to teach cus u can never understand his nonsense about B caps and deltas so not before long Clar Jiamin and I decided to abandon his lessons and depended on Chris Daughtry’s notes after prelims. But it wasnt much use too, as u can tell i failed my EOE, expectedly hahaha. I had no idea how i got a 27, considering I didnt know how to answer a single question and was just staring blankly at the clock, waiting for my last paper to end!
We attended his MSM lessons though, but thank goodness for Faith who so kindly gave me her stack of David Quek’s notes, that i managed to get a 60 for my exams. I remembered I was pretty upset when I got a 20 or 30 for my prelims for MSM cus it’s supposed to be the easiest unit among all..even Jiamin and Clar got a 80+ for that subject! Haha. U’ll only do well if u study hard. Sian but true.
Mr S, who loves to talk about his wife, cheng-teng and giraffes, didnt help me much in the subject either and I had to sought help by visiting the sch’s library, copying notes and case studies from books. Lastly for Mr J.K, who I claimed he’s a complete waste of my time after watching him dance around in the lecture hall; I skipped his wednesday lessons for the whole of the year. Surprisingly i scored the highest for his subject. -.-”" Clar and Jiamin always grumble how I never once give a thought about attending J.K’s lessons. He’s useless guys!!
Yesterday at 3am, Faith called me to tell me that the results were out..it was in the middle of the night and as much as I wanna know how i fared, I didnt dare to wake my sis up, cus I told her that she MUST be the one who gets to see my results first. I believe she’s my lucky charm ever since she checked my results last year and I scraped a pass for my POA (34 marks!!) Anyway i had insomnia all the way to 8am and I decided i couldnt stand it any longer and I woke my sis up, who very willingly got up and I like it when she tells me my results very calmly, haha. Thanks sis, muacks! :*) Sis was happy, Dearie was happy, Mum was extremely happy, my family is giving me a seafood treat this coming saturday! I’m glad that Jiamin did well for his exams and now i hope Clar will receive good results too when she comes back from Vietnam today! :) Then we can all grad happily together! :))
When you traced the path you had taken from childhood, it became crystal clear that God has been directing u at every point. :) I’m convinced of his love for me! :) Thanks Lord for giving me the best present of the year :)
HAHAHAHAHA….
u really flunked ur EOE !!
but WTH seriously…. with all that giraffes u still maange to get 60 plus….
life is unfair…………………………………………………….
Haha! Yah i told you i confirm CMI for my EOE what!
my 60plus has nothing to do with his stories about Straits Times and how he knows the Prime Minister! his notes are horrible for one thing lollll.
Ohyups how did u fare!! good? :)
bad of course… need to ask meh….
hahaha…
but….
i’ll still see u at e graduation ceremony next yr….
I’m so proud of you Elin! Let’s celebrate! Whipeeeee!
Yanli: If can graduate then it wouldnt be that bad right!
lol! At least we survived 3 whole years at SIM! :O
Faith: Yipee Yay Yay! :D Haha i told my sis that u dun have to care abt ur results lah, who cares abt that when u r going to be married + a tai-tai soon! lol!!
Congrats! Even though you stopped talking to me after you couldnt load the website. HAHA
After talking to you I fell sick!! :S I gave up loading the website and went to rest..Pity me, haha!
hey!
first of all congrats!!
im just curious since im not from SIM..
to pass for POA @ 34 marks.. whats the passing mark?
even if one subject is failed, students can still graduate from SIM? hope im not being too nosey =/
enjoy your celebration!
thanks babe! :)
haha the passing mark is 34 for all subjects..it’s low but it’s not really easy passing UOL exams :S yups as long as u dun fail more than one subject u can still graduate with a decent honours!
wow! since not all the subjects have to be passed in order to graduate, how many subjects can one fail to still pass? is there like a fail > how many subjects and the student is not allowed to pass?
u can only fail 1 subject to still graduate with an honours..but if u fail more than 1, u can only graduate with a pass, no honours..so i guess it’s pretty tough studying in SIM! are u studying there soon? :)
Wha Elin…I need to find a decent job leh..cannot just sit ard and shake legs. haha!
yah! what job u wanna find huh! :O
i think i might be jobless for the longest time ever :(
haha maybe! thanks for ans my qns!
is it possible to retake subs that you fail if you dont want just a pass?
i have no idea either! Wait and see for good job offers then I’d hop over! see you on the 26th! gathering at yr place i think…
if u fail any subjects during the 1st/2nd yr, u can still retake and bring over to 2nd/3rd yr..but if u fail more than 1 sub in the last yr then u will probably just graduate with no honours! haha so it’s advisable to choose easy modules for ur last yr!! :x
got gathering at my hse meh! how come i’m always the last one to know lol! :O u shld have stayed at SIA, iron bowl lohs!
icic.. thanks for your time babe!
hihi.. can I ask how to get honours? any criteria? for 2nd class..
plus, can we repeat again to achieve honours?
heyy babe,
for 2nd upper class u need to get at least 60 and above for 5subjects! :) i’m not really sure abt 2nd lower though! hmm if u dun do well for ur 3rd year then u’ll just graduate with a pass! i doubt it’s possible to repeat!
but 5 subjects means 1 full unit rite? if my maths one get 80m and my maths 2 get 40, i take their avg issit?
haiz. i’m startin to feel worried
i think maths I and maths II are 2 different subjects, u take them during different years right? if so then probably u dun have to take the average! usually they’ll take ur best marks unless it’s compulsory units which needed to be taken in. :)
are u in ur 2nd or 3rd year? dun worry just chiong hard for exams and u can make it! :)) jiayou k!
